Mayor Hancock brought additional focus to addressing the need for victims of domestic violence.
It is an issue that is near to his heart as he lost his sister Karen to domestic violence in 2002. He announced the creation of the Rose Andom Center in his 2012 address.
In the words he spoke “We can and we must do a better job supporting victims of domestic violence by providing efficient and comprehensive services under one roof, including legal, protective and counseling services, options for shelter, resources for children and pets and medical care.”
He further acknowledged and sends a big thank you to the countless agencies that have worked together to make opening the Rose Andom Center a reality in Denver.
