Letter from our Executive Director

Every season has its own unique beauty and rhythm. I must confess though, that spring is my favorite time of year with a theme of renewal, emergence, and growth. In light of the year we’ve all experienced, these words seem especially relevant now, and reflective of the activity at the Rose Andom Center. We are pleased to be returning to the building and beginning to provide in-person services by appointment, in addition to the remote services we have been providing to victims over the past year. We look forward to welcoming partners and clients back into our space over the coming months. As you will see below, our first ‘in-person’ event was a COVID-vaccine clinic, thanks to our partnership with Denver Health. Over 80 vaccines were provided to clients and partner agency staff, all grateful for the safe and easy access at the Rose Andom Center!

The Rose Andom Center Board of Directors is also undergoing renewal and growth. Due to term limits at the end of 2020, we lost six inaugural board members, all who played a key role in shepherding the Rose Andom Center through our initial opening and bringing their valued experience and passion to ensure the organization got off to a strong start. Many thanks go to Jon Asher with Colorado Legal Services, Victoria McVicker with SafeHouse Denver, Michelle Adams, Attorney with Colorado Family Legacy, Lieutenant Adam Hernandez with the Denver Police Department, Karmen Carter with the Blue Bench and Steve Siegel, retired from the Denver District Attorney’s Office and consultant with USDOJ. I am grateful for all the wisdom, support and grace they offered me during their tenure on the board. I look forward to continued work with each of them in their non-board capacities.

I am very pleased to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors: Lieutenant Kimberly Bowser with the Denver Police Department, Bree Beasley with the Denver District Attorney’s Office, Angela Cesena, Executive Director with Latina SafeHouse and Sonny Jackson, retired Director of Communications with the Denver Police Department. We are excited to welcome them to the board and look forward to the experience and perspective they each bring to the next phase of the Rose Andom Center.

I wish each of you joy and renewal in the months ahead!

Margaret
