Thank you to everyone who attended the Advanced Course on Non-Fatal Strangulation Prevention, hosted in person at the Rose Andom Center by the Training Institute. This important training brought together professionals from across disciplines to deepen their knowledge of one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence and sexual assault. With no virtual option, the in-person format created an immersive experience led by national experts and enriched by survivor perspectives and real-world case studies.
Throughout the course, attendees explored current research, medical and legal strategies, and best practices for responding to strangulation crimes. Participants had the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams, conduct risk assessments, and engage in hands-on activities like mock trials, expert cross-examinations, and case reviews. From understanding the long-term impacts of strangulation to developing implementation plans tailored to their communities, this training offered practical tools, collaboration, and critical insight to help improve safety, advocacy, and justice for survivors.
